Jair Camargo, a catcher in the Minnesota Twins organization, has signed with the Tigres de Licey for the 2024-2025 LIDOM season.
Camargo was held hitless in six MLB at-bats in his rookie season of 2024, walking once and scoring a run. He played most of the season in AAA, adding 12 home runs and a .693 OPS in 74 games.
“We are signing a more than proven catcher in this league. Camargo’s defense has put us in a great position to win games and fits perfectly into our organization’s planning,” Audo Vicente, VP of operations and general manager, said.
Camargo entered 2024 as the Twins’ No. 24 ranked prospect. However, he dealt with injuries and was held to just 81 games. Playing with Tigres del Licey this season will allow him ample opportunity to get at-bats against quality pitches.
Along with Camargo, the Tigres del Licey have added key additions in Jordan Lawlar and Steve Moyers as they gear up to open the season on Oct. 6.
