Yaquis de Obregon 3, Naranjeros de Hermosillo 0 – Anthony Garcia went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs for the Yaquis, who improved to 1-1 with the win. Roberto Valenzuela drove in the winning run for Obregon with a double that scored Allen Cordoba in the second inning. Seven Obregon pitchers combined to throw a four-hit shutout, striking out nine and walking five.
Tomateros de Culiacan 1, Algodoneros de Guasave 0 – Christian Santana’s sac fly sent Andres Alvarez home with the only run the Tomateros (1-0) would need. Starter Manny Barreda went 5 1/3 innings for Culiacan, allowing just three hits, walking five and striking out four. The Algodoneros stranded 10 baserunners and went 0-for-10 with a runner in scoring position.
Venados de Mazatlan 7, Charros de Jalisco 6 – Alex Liddi’s sac fly in the top of the ninth scored Carlos Arrellano, pushing the Venados past Jalisco in the season opener for both clubs. Liddi went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs and Brayan Quintero went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs.
Caneros de Los Mochis 6, Mayos de Navajoa 3 – Eric Filia’s RBI double started off a four-run top of the ninth for Los Mochis. Rodolfo Amador followed Filia with a two-run single, and an error by Navajoa third baseman Brantley Bell on Alan Espinoza’s grounder allowed Felix Stevens to score the fourth run of the frame. Starter Ronald Bolanos allowed one hit and struck out seven for Los Mochis in five innings of work.
