Tomateros de Culiacan 10, Aguilas de Mexicali 5 – Esteban Quiroz and Wynton Bernard each homered twice as the Tomateros doubled up the Aguilas and improved to 19-4 in the first half. Quiroz hit three-run homers in the fourth and eighth innings, giving him five on the season a tying him with teammate Cristian Santana for the league lead. Bernard hit a two-run homer in the fourth and a solo homer in the sixth.
Venados de Mazatlan 1, Caneros de Los Mochis 0 – Ramiro Pena’s RBI single in the first drove in Fabricio Macias with the game’s only run as the Venados climbed out of the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico’s cellar. Los Mochis stranded 11 base runners on their way to their eighth loss of the season.
Naranjeros de Hermosillo 1, Algodoneros de Guasave 0 – Willie Calhoun drove in Jose Cardona with a sac fly in the third to push the Naranjeros (13-10) past Guasave. Jose Samayoa allow two hits and three walks over six shutout innings, striking out three. The Hermosillo bullpen allowed three hits in three scoreless innings.
Charros de Jalisco 3, Sultanes de Monterrey 2 – Mateo Gil’s single in the bottom of the ninth drove in Carlos Baez with the game-ending run as the Charros (10-13) won their fourth straight and handing Monterrey their fourth straight loss. Luis Rodriguez went 6 2/3 innings for Jalisco, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking one. The Sultanes fell into 10th place with the loss, and are 13 games back of first-place Culiacan at 6-17.
Yaquis de Obregon 10, Mayos de Navojoa 0 – Obregon scored 10 runs in the first five innings, which was plenty to get past Navojoa, which scored zero runs in the game. Kennys Vargas had a two-run single in the five-run fourth, Dalton Rodriguez got plunked with the bases loaded, and Jose Carlos Urena had an RBI single in the frame, which was capped with a bases-loaded walk to Juan Carlos Gamboa. Former New York Yankee Luis Cessa went six scoreless innings for Obregon, allowing five hits, striking out three and walking one.
