LSU outfielder Jake Brown will miss the remainder of the 2026 college baseball season with a broken hand, according to LouisianaSports.net. Brown’s broken hamate bone will require surgery.
Brown missing the remainder of the season is a huge loss for the Tigers. He is one of LSU’s best hitters with a .306 batting average. The junior outfielder also leads the Tigers in home runs (16) and RBIs (49).
Brown was on pace to have possibly his best season in an LSU uniform. He was having his best collegiate season hitting the long ball.
According to Geaux247, Brown’s injury was “no longer manageable from a hitting perspective.”
Brown and the 2026 MLB Draft
Brown is a draft-eligible player and has a good amount of draft stock. According to MLB Pipeline, Brown is a top 55 prospect for the 2026 MLB Draft. This puts him in a prime position to be picked in the top two rounds of the upcoming draft in Philadelphia.
It is safe to assume that Brown’s career at LSU is finished. If this is so, he will leave Baton Rouge after three seasons and was a part of the Tigers’ 2025 National Championship team.
Up next for LSU
The LSU Tigers have struggled as of late. They have won just two of their last nine games and have a 23-18 overall record this season. LSU also has a 6-12 record in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play.
Their next game is Tuesday, April 21, against the New Orleans Privateers. That game is at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge and the first pitch is at 7:30 p.m. ET.
