The Mets have not yet announced which level Pérez will be assigned to.

The 30-year-old from Matanzas, Cuba has played nine seasons in Major League Baseball with the Houston Astros from 2018-20, the Cincinnati Reds in 2021, and the Baltimore Orioles from 2022-25, before electing free agency on May 4 from the Washington Nationals after being sent outright to Triple-A Rochester on May 2.

Pérez was 2-3 with the Nationals in 2026, posting a 6.19 ERA in 16 appearances out of the bullpen. He threw 16 innings, allowing 16 hits, 11 earned runs, two home runs, 11 walks, nine strikeouts, and a 1.688 WHIP.

Pérez originally signed with Washington on a minor league contract on February 16, prior to the 2026 Grapefruit League season.
