West Virginia (44-14) 12, Cal Poly (39-23) 2 – The Mountaineers got out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a homer by Sean Smith, then added five more runs in the fourth as they routed Cal Poly in the first game of the Morgantown Super Regional.

Smith went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored, and Tyrus Hall hit a grand slam in the fourth to punctuate the Mountaineers’ big inning.

West Virginia added three more in the seventh to put the program one win away from its first Men’s College World Series appearance.

Chansen Cole struck out a season-high 11 Mustangs, and threw seven innings, allowing two runs on eight hits and walking none for West Virginia.

USC (48-16) 9, North Carolina (48-12-1) 5 – Down 5-1 after five innings, the Trojans fought on to rally and beat the Tar Heels 9-5 in Game 1 of the Chapel Hill Super Regional, taking the lead on a grand slam by Dean Carpentier to cap a five-run sixth inning.

Kevin Takeuchi started the rally with an RBI single. With two outs, Andrew Lamb drew a walk to load the bases, and the Carpentier launched the second pitch he saw over the wall for a 6-5 USC lead. They added three more in the seventh and got two scoreless innings of relief from Chase Herrell to secure the win.

Little Rock (39-26) 12, Troy (36-30) 2 – World Baseball Network’s Alfred Ezman has a full story from Troy’s 12-2 win here.

Ole Miss (40-21) 6, Auburn (42-21) 4 – Judd Uttermark tied his single-season home run record for Ole Miss, hitting a two-run homer in the fifth for his 22nd round tripper of the year, giving the Rebels a 4-1 lead.

Auburn cut the lead to 4-3 with a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth, but Ole Miss wasn’t done.

In the sixth, Collin Reuter put the game out of reach with another two-run homer.

Four different Ole Miss batters had multi-hit games, including Uttermark, and three Rebels pitchers combined to allow four runs on nine hits and five walks.

With a win on Saturday, Ole Miss can advance to the Men’s College World Series for the first time since 2022, when the Rebels won the only national championship in program history.
