Chase Fralick will be one of college baseball’s best catchers during the 2027 season. The junior seems ready to put together a spectacular season with the Auburn Tigers at Plainsman Park.
Fralick and his career with the Auburn
Fralick has already put together two spectacular seasons in college baseball. Across 122 games in his freshman and sophomore seasons, Fralick has a .324 career batting average. He also has a .988 career OPS with 35 doubles, 24 home runs, and 102 RBIs.
He became the first catcher in Auburn baseball history to have a 20-home run season in 2026 and was also a Perfect Game second-team All-American that same season.
Fralick was also a Buster Posey Award finalist in 2026. That award goes to the best catcher in college baseball. The other 2026 finalists were Georgia’s Daniel Jackson, Georgia Tech’s Vahn Lackey, Florida Gulf Coast’s Jon Embury, and Texas’ Carson Tinney.
Fralick also brought home some individual accolades during his freshman season in 2025. He was a first-team Freshman All-American and was also a part of the Southeastern Conference’s (SEC) All-Freshman team.
Heading into 2027, it is clear that Fralick will be the star player to watch out for on the Auburn Tigers.
Fralick and his impact on winning
Fralick’s great hitting throughout his Auburn career has led to the Tigers winning a lot.
After an underwhelming 2024 season, Auburn immediately turned it around during Fralick's freshman year in 2025. The Tigers had a 41-20 overall record and a 17-13 record in SEC play.
The winning continued in 2026 during Fralick’s sophomore season. Auburn finished 42-22 overall and once again had a 17-13 record in SEC play.
During both the 2025 and 2026 seasons, the Auburn Tigers hosted super regionals at Plainsman Park. However, Auburn failed to win those super regionals and make it to the College World Series.
The College World Series will be on the minds of Fralick and his Auburn teammates this season. He has been a big part of turning Auburn into a nationally competitive program that is on the cusp of making it to Omaha.
