Day 6 of Super Round action at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games featured highly anticipated matchups, with crucial results reshaping the standings and raising the stakes as the tournament moved toward its final days.

Nicaragua (3-2) 9, Puerto Rico (3-2) 3 – On Wednesday, Nicaragua flipped the momentum with a steady stream of run-scoring innings, overwhelming Puerto Rico behind an offense that refused to slow down in Super Round play.

Nicaragua took the lead in the third inning when Benjamín Alegría lined an RBI single to left to score Ronald Rivera, then added two more runs in the fourth as Emanuel Trujillo drove in Cheslor Cuthbert with an RBI single before later stealing home.

The offense kept rolling in the fifth as Elian Rayo singled to left to score Benjamín Joy, and Luis Montealto followed with a ground-rule RBI double to right-center that plated Elian Lightning, extending Nicaragua’s advantage.

Alegría added a two-run single up the middle in the sixth to score Saúl Orozco and Cristhian Sandoval, while Orozco, who finished 2-for-3 with a 1.000 OPS, capped the offensive effort with a two-run double to right-center in the seventh, scoring Montealto and Rivera before advancing to third on an error.

Puerto Rico opened its scoring in the second inning when Alexis Torres Rivera lined an RBI single through the left side to bring home Kevin Santa Torres, while Torres later added a two-run single up the middle in the fifth, driving in Rubén Castro Ortiz and Kevin Luciano.

Despite consistent offensive play, Puerto Rico was unable to keep pace with Nicaragua’s sustained attack, dropping its final Super Round game.

Panama (5-0) 4, Dominican Republic (2-3) 3 – Panama completed another undefeated Super Round campaign,outlasting a late Dominican Republic comeback attempt to secure first place in the standings.

Panama struck first in the opening inning when Carlos Mosquera Ayala lined a single to center to score Edgard Muñoz, then advanced to second on a throwing error that also allowed Erasmo Caballero Ruiz to cross the plate.

The lead grew in the second inning as Héctor Rayo Mendoza lifted a sacrifice fly down the right-field line to score Joshwan Wright, and Panama added another run in the third when Abraham Rodríguez came home on a throwing error after Mendoza reached safely.

Panama’s early offensive execution proved enough to build a multi-run advantage that it carried the rest of the way for the win.

The Dominican Republic manufactured a run in the first inning when Gilberto Celestino scored on Raimel Tapia Linares’ ground-ball double play, then added two more in the fifth as Juan Guerrero Yan drove in Tapia Linares with a groundout before Omar Meregildo singled to left to score Diego Hernández Liriano.

Despite scoring three runs, the Dominican Republic was unable to overcome Panama’s early lead, falling in their final Super Round game.

Cuba (4-1) 3, Colombia (1-4) 0 – Cuba delivered another dominant performance in the Super Round, combining outstanding pitching with offensive efficiency to shut out Colombia and strengthen their position in the standings.

Yulieski Remón Tejeda, who finished with a .600 batting average and a 1.800 OPS, sparked Cuba’s offense in the second inning with a two-run single up the middle that scored José Noroña and Henry Quintero Chávez, before Luis Mateo Terry followed with an RBI single to bring Tejeda home.

José Ignacio Bermúdez delivered a dominant performance on the mound, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits, striking out eight batters and issuing one walk to keep the opposing lineup off balance.

The victory strengthened Cuba’s position in the Super Round standings, moving the team into second place behind undefeated Panama.

After a difficult second inning by the starter, Colombia’s bullpen shut down Cuba’s offense over the final five innings, giving the team a chance to stay within striking distance.

Colombia managed two hits throughout the entire game. Despite pushing through the initial pool play into the elite Super Round, Colombia was unable to generate extra-base hits or sustain offensive pressure, ultimately taking the loss.
