In a club video, Profar said he had always wanted to play in Venezuela and grew up watching these games. He said he is there to get at-bats and find his rhythm, and that he played a winter in the Dominican for Tatis Sr. in 2023.

Earthquake Relief

The series raises money for relief after the June 24 earthquakes in Venezuela. NTN24 reported more than 6,500 deaths, and La Guaira was among the hardest-hit areas, which is home to much of the Tiburones’ fan base.

Proceeds go to Global Empowerment Mission and the We Love Venezuela Foundation. The money comes from a share of ticket sales, 50/50 raffles at each game and commemorative souvenir cups. Fans can also drop off requested supplies at the ballpark gates.

Around the Games

Miguel Rojas gets a career celebration before Sunday’s game. He spent eight of his 13 big-league seasons with the Marlins and won two World Series with the Dodgers. He is expected to join La Guaira for the weekend.
