Chubb Jones was reclassified from the 2027 high school class to the 2026 high school class. This means that the Douglasville, Georgia native will play for the Alabama Crimson Tide during the 2027 college baseball season.

He made this announcement on his social media accounts on Sunday, September 6.

According to Perfect Game, Jones was a top 40 player in the 2027 high school class. He was one of Alabama's top recruits in that class as well. Jones is a formidable prospect who can play the left side of the infield and be a right-handed pitcher as well.

As he joins the other incoming freshmen in Tuscaloosa, Jones will become the top newcomer to watch on the Crimson Tide. The Georgia prospect is joining Alabama's 2026 recruiting class that ranks 19th in the country.

Jones and his most recent high school season

Jones is coming off a big-time high school baseball season with McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Ga.

In 32 games during his junior season, he had a .370 batting average and a 1.064 OPS. The incoming Alabama freshman also had nine doubles and 35 RBIs. The 2026 season was his best season offensively with McEachern.

Jones also had a .496 on-base percentage, walking more than striking out. He had 23 walks compared to 18 strikeouts.

As a pitcher, Jones finished with a 2.19 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 48 innings of work. He also had six wins on the mound during his junior year with McEachern.

Alabama 2026 season results

In 2026, the Alabama Crimson Tide had their best season under head coach Rob Vaughn. They finished with a 42-21 overall record and an 18-12 record in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play.

The Crimson Tide won a regional and super regional at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa. They made the College World Series for the first time since 1999.
