Piratas de Campeche (46-39) 9, Tigres de Quintana Roo (43-43) 7 – The Piratas scored three in the top of the ninth and survived a rally by Quintana Roo in the bottom of the ninth to take sole possession of third place and hand the Tigres their fifth straight loss. Jesse Castillo and Emmanuel Avila hit solo homers in the first and third innings respectively, and Christian Ibarra hit a two-run shot in the second for Campeche. With the loss, the Tigres fell two games behind sixth-place Oaxaca for the final playoff spot in the Zona Sur.

Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (32-54) 4, Charros de Jalisco (43-42) 2 – Jonathan Arauz capped a four-run eighth inning for the Tecos with a two-run single, spoiling Manny Barreda’s stellar start for the Charros. The former Major League gave Jalisco six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out five. Tyler Ivey threw six scoreless innings for the Tecos, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Diablos Rojos del Mexico (58-28) 14, Leones de Yucatan (29-55) 2 (Game 1/Nine Innings) – Trevor Bauer finished off the rain suspended game from Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits over seven innings as the Diablos thumped the last place Leones to clinch home field through the first three rounds of the playoffs. Rio Ruiz drove in a pair of runs with a double in the first and two more with a single in the eighth for the Reds, and four other Diablos had two RBIs each.

Diablos Rojos del Mexico (59-28) 8, Leones de Yucatan (29-56) 7 (Game 2/Seven Innings) – Julian Ornelas hit a three-run homer in the first, his 20th of the year, and Franklin Barreto hit his 17th homer of the year, a two-run shot in the four-run fifth as the Reds came back to take the final game of the series from Yucatan.

Bravos de Leon (46-40) 11, Guerreros de Oaxaca (45-41) 2 – Sandber Pimentel went 2-for-5, scored twice, hit a grand slam, and drove in five runs, and Alejandro Mejia hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs as the Bravos blew out the Guerreros. The win keeps the Bravos tied with Puebla for fourth place, while the Guerreros fell to sixth place, a game back of Leon and Puebla and two games ahead of Quintana Roo.

Olmecas de Tabasco (51-35) 6, El Aguila de Veracruz (39-47) 3 – Tabasco jumped out to a 6-0 lead after scoring two each in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. Marco Hernandez hit a two-run homer for the Olmecas, and Oscar Gonzalez hit a solo shot. Tabasco can no longer clinch the top seed in the Zona Sur, but a combination of three wins or Campeche losses will clinch the No. 2 seed in the south. El Aguila is all but eliminated, six games out of the final playoff spot with seven games remaining.

TUESDAY: Piratas Sweep Double Header from Quintana Roo; Three Teams Tied for Last Three Spots In Zona Sur

Pericos de Puebla (45-39) 10, Conspiradores de Queretaro (34-51) 5 – Michael De La Cruz opened the scoring for Puebla with a three-run homer in the second, and the Pericos pecked away at Queretaro to send them to their fifth straight loss. The win keeps the Guerreros tied with Leon for fourth, a half-game behind third-place Campeche with seven games left to play.

Caliente de Durango (48-37) 7, Sultanes de Monterrey (44-42) 6 – Daniel Johnson’s two-run triple in the eighth got the winning run home for Durango, giving the Caliente their 48th win of the year and reducing their magic number to claim the No. 2 seed in the Zona Norte to three. The Sultanes got a three-run homer from Josh Lester in the top of the ninth to close the gap to a single run, but couldn’t score the equalizer, and fell into a tie for third place with Monclova, four and a half games behind Durango.

Saraperos de Saltillo (36-50) 9, Rieleros de Aguascalientes (39-43) 7 – Seven of the nine Saltillo starters had at least one RBI as the Saraperos took another game from Aguascalientes. The loss ties the Rieleros with Union Laguna for sixth place in the Zona Norte, while the Saraperos cling to a slim chance of catching both teams and making the postseason, sitting five games back with seven to play.

Acereros de Monclova (44-42) 12, Dorados de Chihuahua (34-52) 11 – Rodolfo Amador hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth, his second homer of the game, and when the lineup turned over to leadoff man Magneuris Sierra, Sierra hit a two-run single that scored the winner for the Acereros, who came back from a four-run deficit to beat Chihuahua. The win keeps the Acereros tied for third place with Monterrey, while the Dorados can finish tied for the last playoff spot should a miracle occur.

Algodoneros de Union Laguna (41-45) 6, Toros de Tijuana (56-28) 4 – The Algodoneros scored five runs in the sixth, getting two-run homers from Julian Escobedo and Isan Diaz, and added an insurance run in the ninth to stay tied with Aguascalientes for the final playoff spot in the Zona Norte. The loss means little for the Toros, who have secured the No. 1 seed in the north for the playoffs.
