The Liga Mexicana de Beisbol announced disciplinary actions taken against players and staff of the Toros de Tijuana and Acereros de Monclova in the brawl between the two teams in Sunday’s 5-3 Acereros victory.

During the fourth inning, one of the most professional baseball’s most violent incidents in recent memory occurred when Danry Vasquez of the Toros punched third baseman Rodolfo Amador of the Acereros after Amador tagged him in a rundown. Vasquez then kicked Amador while he was lying on the field as the benches emptied.

Monclova first baseman Ryan Hernandez, who took down Vasquez from behind near the pitcher’s mound as the fracas escalated, suffered a broken arm and left the ballpark in an ambulance in addition to being ejected from the game, was suspended six games and fined an undisclosed amount, according to a league press release. In addition to the suspension and fine to Hernandez, Acereros pitcher Wilmer Rios, the LMB’s reigning Pitcher of the Year, was suspended four games and fined an undisclosed amount.

Monclova coach Carlos Alberto Gastélum was suspended for three games and fined, infielder Alan Trejo was suspended two games and fined, and Jecksson Flores was suspended one game and fined.

On the other side, Vasquez, who instigated the brawl by punching Amador, has been suspended indefinitely by the LMB. In addition to the sanction levied against Vasquez, pitcher Adonis Medina was suspended five games and fined an undisclosed amount by the league, and coach Luis Ugueto wass suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount.
