LMP: Guasave's Pitchers Combine For Two-Hit Shutout, Road Teams Sweep Wednesday's Opening Night Action

Yaquis de Obregon 11, Mayos de Navojoa 5 - Sebastian Elizalde went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo homer, scoring twice and driving himself in as Obregon spoiled the Mayos' return to Navojoa. Alfredo Hurtado drove in three for the Yaquis, knocking an RBI single in the fourth and then clubbing a two-run single in the sixth. Samar Leyva and Alexis Wilson each hit a two-run homer for Navojoa in the seventh.

Algodoneros de Guasave 2, Caneros de Los Mochis 0 - Starter Kevin Abel threw five scoreless, hitless innings, and five relievers combined to allow two hits and a walk over the final four frames as the Algodoneros took an opening night win. Jorge Flores doubled home Alberto Barriga in the second, and Drew Avans drew a bases-loaded walk in the eighth to give Guasave some insurance. Rodolfo Amador and Randy Romero each had a single for Los Mochis, the only two hits the Caneros could muster.

Tomateros de Culiacan 4, Venados de Mazatlan 3 - Jon Singleton, Luis Verdugo, and Orlando Martinez each hit solo homers, with Martinez's blast in the eighth putting the Tomateros ahead for good. Fabricio Macias had a sac fly that tied the game at three for Lorenzo Bundy's killer tomatoes, and Robert Gsellman threw a perfect inning in relief to earn the win. Ryan Cermak hit a solo homer for Mazatlan.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo 3, Aguilas de Mexicali 0 - Hermosillo's Dylan Jasso launched a three-run homer in the second, and it was all the offense Mexicali would need to dethrone starter David "The King" Reyes and the Aguilas in their season opener. Zac Grotz threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings for the Naranjeros, allowing five hits and striking out four, and the Hermosillo bullpen allowed just four baserunners the rest of the way as Grotz and five relievers combined for a shutout. Chuckie Robinson had three hits for the Aguilas in the loss.
