Henderson scored five runs in the second inning and four in the fifth on Saturday at Lamade Stadium, beating Hamilton 12-2 on the run rule to win the Little League World Series U.S. championship.
They played on the first day of the tournament too. Henderson won that one 6-5 on a walk-off single.
Paseo Verde went on to lose to Curaçao 11-2 in Sunday's championship game.
The second inning decided it
Ohio led 1-0 and then tied it at 1-1 in the top half on a Bob Frazier single and an Adrian Cruz error.
Then Henderson batted around.
Jace Ward walked. Michael Kleiner singled. Maddox Bryan lined a two-run single to right. Cruz walked. Payton Hinsen sacrificed. Michael Guerrero was hit by a pitch. Carsynn Meyer singled to center to score Hinsen. Owen Guzman singled home Guerrero, and Cruz scored on a wild pitch.
Five runs. Ohio used two pitchers in the inning.
Henderson added two in the fourth and four in the fifth — Brooks McFarland's two-run double, then a Maddox Bryan single that brought home the twelfth run and triggered the run rule.
Announced attendance was 25,317.
Carsynn Meyer
Meyer is the 26th girl ever to play in the Little League World Series, and her RBI single was part of the inning that won the U.S. championship.
She and Kinley Rasmus threw a ceremonial first pitch with WPBL commissioner Justine Siegal on Tuesday. Rasmus went home Wednesday.
Meyer became the first girl to play in a Little League World Series final since Sayaka Tsushima did it for Japan in 1998. She led off the sixth inning Sunday and struck out swinging.
What happened next
Nevada lost to Curaçao 11-2 in the championship on Sunday. Willemstad finished the tournament 6-0.
This was the fourth straight year a Nevada team reached Williamsport. Summerlin South won the U.S. championship last year before losing to Chinese Taipei. Nevada has still never won a Little League World Series.
