The Ole Miss Rebels landed a commitment from middle infielder Tyce Johnson. He is the number-two overall player in the 2028 high school class and plays baseball for Linfield Christian High School in California.
The only player in the 2028 high school class who is ranked higher than Johnson is Theo Swafford, who is committed to the Texas Longhorns.
Johnson has played two high school seasons for the Linfield Christian Lions. In those two seasons, he has a .358 batting average with six doubles, seven home runs, and 46 RBIs. Johnson has some speed on the bases as well, with 18 stolen bases in his career.
Defensively, Perfect Game raves about Johnson's ability in the middle infield. He is said to have "pure athleticism at shortstop" with great arm strength as well.
Ole Miss and its recruiting classes
Johnson is now the headliner for Ole Miss' 2028 high school recruiting class. He is the lone top-100 player in the Rebels' 2028 class, and Ole Miss' class ranks 22nd overall in the 2028 recruiting cycle.
Johnson is also the only infielder in Ole Miss' 2028 class. The rest of the class contains one outfielder, three right-handed pitchers, and two left-handed pitchers.
The Ole Miss Rebels also have a solid 2027 recruiting class. That class is ranked 21st overall in the 2027 cycle and has one top-100 prospect. That top-100 prospect is catcher Quincy Pratt, who is from Oxford, Mississippi. He plays for Magnolia Heights High School, which is less than an hour away from Ole Miss.
Head coach Mike Bianco also just landed another top-25 class in the most recent 2026 recruiting cycle. The incoming freshmen on Ole Miss' team made up the 19th-best recruiting class in the country. Within that class, Ole Miss landed three top-100 prospects.
Christian Doty is the one top-100 player in the 2026 class who made it to campus. Like Pratt, he also played for Magnolia Heights High School and was ranked 99th in the 2026 high school class.
