An early look at the 2027 college baseball recruiting cycle shows that the Southeastern Conference (SEC) has the upper hand. Nine SEC teams have top-ten classes in the cycle, according to Perfect Game.

World Baseball Network gives an early look at the 2027 college baseball recruiting rankings.

LSU holds the top-ranked class, all SEC teams in the top five

The number one high school recruiting class in 2027 goes to the LSU Tigers. A total of 10 top 100 prospects in the class are committed to the Tigers. LSU has 18 total players committed to play for Baton Rouge in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

This has the makings of another massive class for head coach Jay Johnson. In the 2026 recruiting cycle, LSU brought home the number two class in the country. The only team with a higher-ranked class in that cycle was the Vanderbilt Commodores.

LSU is joined by four other SEC teams that have top-five recruiting classes in 2027. The Texas Longhorns have the second-best class in the country.

The Longhorns' 2027 class is headlined by two top-10 players in the 2027 class who are committed to playing in Austin. Abilene High School's George Ferguson and The Bennett School's Lubin Rincon are ranked as the sixth and tenth best players in the 2027 class, respectively. Both of those players are committed to Texas.

The Texas A&M Aggies follow the Longhorns with the third-best 2027 recruiting class. The Vanderbilt Commodores have the fourth-best class, and the Arkansas Razorbacks have the fifth-best class.

Texas and Texas A&M have six top-100 prospects apiece who are committed to play for them. Vanderbilt has five top 100 prospects committed to play for them, and Arkansas has four top 100 prospects committed to play for them.

TCU is the only non-SEC team in the top ten for 2027 recruiting

The only team with a top-ten 2027 recruiting class that is not in the SEC is the TCU Horned Frogs.

TCU has the seventh-best class in the country. They sit behind the Alabama Crimson Tide, who have the sixth-best class.

The Horned Frogs' 2027 recruiting class is made up of 18 total players. That is the same amount as LSU, Texas, and Arkansas' recruiting classes.

Five out of those 18 prospects are ranked in Perfect Game's top 100.

Which teams round out the top ten in 2027 college baseball recruiting?

The other teams with top ten recruiting classes in the 2027 cycle are the Tennessee Volunteers, the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and the Auburn Tigers. Those teams are ranked eighth, ninth, and tenth overall, respectively.

Tennessee's class is lighter than the others around them with 12 total commitments. However, the prospects that are committed to the Volunteers are highly-ranked. Tennessee has seven top 100 players in the 2027 class.

This includes the number one player in the country, Dylan Seward, who is potentially the number one overall pick in the 2027 MLB Draft. Seward is a shortstop who plays for Norco High School in California.

Mississippi State's ninth-ranked recruiting class looks similar to Tennessee's class. The Bulldogs have just 10 total commitments. However, six of those players are on Perfect Game's top 100 list.

Auburn's 2027 recruiting class contains three top 100 recruits. A total of 13 players in the 2027 class are committed to play for the Tigers.
