On Monday, October 12, the Vanderbilt Commodores landed a commitment from Aiden Kearney. Kearney is the eighth-best player in the 2028 high school class, according to Perfect Game.

Kearney is also the best player in the 2028 class from Florida. The highly-talented infield prospect plays for Hagerty High School and is from Winter Park. Perfect Game’s scouting report says that Kearney is “likely a third base projection” on defense.

When making his commitment, Kearney posted the following message on his X account.

“Thank you God for blessing me with this opportunity,” Kearney said. “I am extremely blessed to announce my commitment to Vanderbilt University to continue my academic and athletic career. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way through this process. Anchor Down!”

Kearney’s high school career, plus a look at the 2028 Vanderbilt recruiting class

In two seasons with Hagerty High School, Kearney has a .312 batting average over the course of 66 games. Over that same stretch, he has 13 doubles, three triples, three home runs, and 44 RBIs.

During the 2026 high school baseball season, Hagerty finished with a 22-9 record and was a top 25 team in the state of Florida, according to Max Preps.

Kearney is joining Vanderbilt’s 2028 recruiting class. This class includes another top-100 player in Jack Rhodes. He is a catcher prospect who plays for Christ Presbyterian Academy in Nashville.

Kearney’s commitment is set to shoot Vanderbilt’s 2028 class up the Perfect Game rankings. The Commodores just brought in the second-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle. In the 2027 recruiting cycle, Vanderbilt has another strong class ranked third in the country, behind LSU and Texas.

With Kearney now committed to the Commodores, Vanderbilt has 13 top-100 Perfect Game prospects in the 2026, 2027, and 2028 recruiting cycles.

Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin continues to bring multiple talented players to Nashville for their college baseball careers.
