New York Yankees prospect Logan Maxwell retired from baseball after just 30 games, according to his transaction log on milb.com.
Maxwell was playing for the Yankees' Single-A affiliate, the Tampa Tarpons. With Tampa, he had a .270 batting average in 100 at-bats with four doubles, five home runs, and 24 RBIs.
Maxwell's last appearance for the Tarpons was on July 2. After that game, he was sent to the Yankees' Florida Complex League team on a rehab assignment. Later on, he was moved from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Maxwell was battling injuries throughout the 2026 Minor League Baseball season. He was placed on injury lists on multiple occasions.
Maxwell and his college baseball career with TCU and Arkansas
Before his brief MiLB career, Maxwell played four seasons of college baseball. He played for the TCU Horned Frogs and the Arkansas Razorbacks from 2022 to 2025.
In his sophomore and junior seasons, Maxwell broke out in a big way for the Horned Frogs. He had a .300 and a .335 batting average in those seasons, respectively. The outfielder also combined for 18 doubles and 43 RBIs in those two seasons as well.
Maxwell played in the College World Series with TCU in 2023 as a sophomore. As a junior in 2024, he was an honorable All-Big 12 nominee with the Horned Frogs.
After three seasons in Fort Worth, Maxwell transferred from TCU to Arkansas for the 2025 college baseball season.
With Arkansas in 2025, Maxwell had a .356 batting average and a 1.059 OPS. He also finished the season with 13 home runs and 38 RBIs.
Maxwell played a role in leading the Razorbacks to the College World Series in 2025 during what was his best college baseball season.
After his college baseball career wrapped up, Maxwell signed with the New York Yankees as an undrafted free agent.
