South American Baseball Championship Notes

While the entire baseball world is focused on the Premier12, there is another international baseball tournament going on. The 19th South American Baseball Championship is being held in Peru this week. The tournament features five teams: Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, and Chile.

Each team will play four games, and the top four will advance to the Semi-Finals in a single-elimination game.

The current favorite for the tournament is Brazil, which is looking to win its ninth championship. Brazil has won two of the last three tournaments and finished second in four of the previous six.

Argentina is not far behind. They are looking to capture their eighth championship win in history and first since 2018. Argentina has won five of the last eight tournaments and finished runner-up to Brazil in 2022.

Here are the current standings as of today (11/19)

Argentina: 2-0

Brazil: 2-1

Ecuador: 1-1

Chile: 1-2

Peru: 1-3
