SSG Landers Re-sign KBO Batting Champ Guillermo Heredia

The SSG Landers continued their busy offseason by announcing the re-signing of 2024 KBO batting champion Guillermo Heredia. The $1.8 million deal, which includes a $1.6 million base salary and an additional $200,000 in incentives, is the largest deal given to an international player so far this offseason.

A seven-year veteran who earned a World Series ring with the 2021 Atlanta Braves, Heredia has clearly found a home in the KBO. The 33-year-old Cuban followed up a solid 2023 debut with an explosive performance in 2024, leading the league with a .360 batting average and a career-high 21 home runs. He also set club records with 195 hits and 118 hits.

Along with the re-signing of starter Drew Anderson and the free-agent acquisition of former MLB right-hander Mitch White, the extension of Heredia puts the Landers at the maximum of three international players. The offseason splurge will look to help SSG rebound from missing the postseason for the first time since 2021.
