Time Is Running Out in The Regular Season: One Thing From Every MLB Game

The Braves were unable to capitalize on a Mets loss. Time is running out for them to secure a spot in the postseason party. Here’s everything you missed from last night’s MLB action.

Miami Marlins 4,  Atlanta Braves 3

The Braves are doing themselves no favors in the Wild Card race. After scoring 15 runs on Thursday, the Braves offense could only plate three runs. Charlie Morton allowed three runs in the first inning.

Philadelphia Phillies 12, New York Mets 2

The Phillies offense finally showed up in the series. After multiple 10-run outings from the Mets, the Phillies shut down the New York offense. Cristopher Sánchez allowed just two earned runs with seven strikeouts in five innings.

Baltimore Orioles 7, Detroit Tigers 1

The Tigers need every win they can get as they try to secure a Wild Card berth. However, the Orioles had a big night at the plate. Colton Cowser and James McCann each hit two home runs.

Tampa Bay Rays 1, Toronto Blue Jays 0

As both teams struggled at the plate, the Rays came through with the big hit. Jonathan Aranda hit a solo home run in the sixth inning to score the deciding run.

Cincinnati Reds 8, Pittsburgh Pirates 3

Tyler Stephenson’s stellar night at the plate led the way for the Reds. He had five RBIs with three hits. His bases-clearing double in the third inning was the big blow.

Chicago Cubs 3, Washington Nationals 1

Dansby Swanson hit his 16th home run of the season in the first inning. The Cubs held the Nats in check behind a quality start from Jameson Taillon.

San Francisco Giants 2, Kansas City Royals 1

The Giants pitching handheld the Royals’ offense, leaning on the bullpen. Starter Mason Black went just 5 2/3 innings and allowed four hits. The bullpen handled the Royals the rest of the night and allowed just one hit despite a bases-loaded scare in the final frame.

Seattle Mariners 8, Texas Rangers 2

The Mariners’ offense did plenty enough for George Kirby. Kirby went six innings and allowed just two earned runs. Julio Rodriguez picked up five RBIs on three hits, including two home runs.

Cleveland Guardians 5, St. Louis Cardinals 1

José Ramírez’s outstanding regular season continued as he hit his 36th home run. He is looking to join the 40/40 club and needs four more home runs. The Cardinals were officially eliminated from the postseason party.

Los Angeles Dodgers 6, Colorado Rockies 4

Shohei Ohtani continues to amaze every night. One game after his historic 6-6 game, he hit his 52nd home run to put the Dodgers ahead after an early 2-0 deficit.

San Diego Padres 3, Chicago White Sox 2

Jackson Merrill’s two-run double in the sixth inning started the scoring. Joe Musgrove struck out nine in six scoreless innings of work as the Padres came out with the win.

Arizona Diamondbacks 7, Milwaukee Brewers 4

For the second straight night, the D-backs bested the Brewers. The Brewers’ chances of a bye are slipping away. The Brewers tied the game up in the fifth inning with four runs, but the D-Backs answered with three runs in the sixth.

New York Yankees 4, Oakland Athletics 2

A three-run 10th inning broke a 1-1 tie for the Yankees. Juan Soto’s double was the big hit the Yankees were waiting for all night.

Houston Astros 9, Los Angeles Ageles 7

In a high-scoring contest, the Astros were able to do just enough to get the edge. Alex Bregman clubbed his 24th home run of the year as the Astros gear up for another postseason run.

Minnesota Twins 4, Boston Red Sox 2

A low-scoring affair took 12 innings to decide a winner. The Twins were able to finally jump ahead in the top of the 12th inning with a Trevor Larnach single.
