Tomateros de Culiacan Top WBN Winter Ball Poll For Second Consecutive Week

For the second straight week, the Tomateros de Culiacan, who lead the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico, lead the World Baseball Network Winter Ball Poll.

At 23-9, the Tomateros clinched the first half title in the LAMP this past week, and received three of five first place votes and 48 points overall.

Close behind are the Leones del Esgido of LIDOM at 16-7, who received two first place votes and 47 points overall.

Venezuela’s Bravos de Margarita were the highest ranked team from the LVBP, garnering 32 points from their 17-12 record.

The Caneros de Los Mochis, who are second in the LAMP at 19-13, were fourth in this week’s poll with 23 points

The Tigres del Licey (14-9), who have won the LIDOM title each of the last two seasons, were fifth with 23 points.

The highest-ranked team in Puerto Rico’s winter league, the LBPRC, was the Indios de Mayaguez, who lead the league with a 4-1 mark. The Senators of San Juan, at 4-2, were ranked 10th.

At 16-12, the Aguilas del Zulia of the LVBP got 20 votes, eight points ahead of their rivals, the Navegantes de Magallanes, who were tied for eighth in the poll with 12 votes, paired with the Estrellas Orientales of LIDOM.

Four teams, the Tiburones de La Guaira of the LVBP, the Charros de Jalisco of LAMP, the Gigantes de Carolina of the LBPRC, and the Gigantes del Cibao of LIDOM, dropped out of the poll this week.
