On Friday, the Tennessee Volunteers landed another highly sought-after recruit. Kruz Schoolcraft announced via X that he has committed to Tennessee. He is ranked ninth on MLB.com’s 2025 draft prospects list and is a top ten player in the 2025 high school class, according to Perfect Game.
The potential two-way player from Sunset High School in Beaverton, Ore., is another super-talented player that head coach Tony Vitello has added to his 2025 recruiting class. Schoolcraft chose the Volunteers over plenty of other SEC schools that also gave him offers.
MLB.com has an excerpt about him being both a left-handed pitcher and first baseman. “The 6-foot-8 Schoolcraft is a towering presence on the mound and in the batter’s box.”
Schoolcraft’s draft report went on to say that he has “the chance to be an above-average hitter” who also hits 97 mph on his fastball.
He joins Billy Carlson and Cameron Appenzeller in Tennessee’s loaded 2025 class. Much like Schoolcraft, Carlson, and Appenzeller are ranked among the top 25 MLB draft prospects.
The Volunteers are ranked 3rd in high school recruiting behind LSU and Texas.
Although it will be hard to get Schoolcraft to come to Knoxville due to his stock as a top-ten draft pick, Vitello’s latest pick-up on the recruiting trail for 2025 shows how much momentum he has.
