The Lotte Giants announced on Tuesday that they had agreed to an extension with star outfielder Victor Reyes. The new deal will earn Reyes $1 million in 2025 with an additional $225,000 in incentives.
A five-year MLB veteran with the Detroit Tigers, Reyes joined the KBO for his age-29 season and immediately established himself as one of the league’s best hitters. The outfielder finished second in the league with a .352 average and sixth in RBI with 111, but the real story was his pursuit of the all-time single-season hits record. A ninth-inning single on the season’s final day gave him an incredible 202 on the year, breaking a tie with Nexon Heroes great Seo Geong-chang.
General manager Park Joon-hyuk spoke highly of Reyes’ ability on and off the field.
“He always put the team first and showed great fighting spirit in playing every game this past season,” he said. “He put up great numbers across the board, and we expect him to be a key part of our lineup next year as well.”
With Reyes officially back in the fold, the Giants can officially turn their attention to upgrading the rest of the roster as they try to return to the postseason for the first time since 2017.
