Viva Nicaragua Canal 13 reported that Sandor Guido was named manager of the country’s 2023 World Baseball Classic team, as well as skipper for Nicaragua at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games and the Central American Championship.

The Central American Championship will be held in Managua, Nicaragua’s capital, at Dennis Martinez National Stadium in early February.

Guido is the current manager of Leon in the Liga Beisbol Profesional Nicaragua, which began their round robin playoffs from yesterday.

The Central American Baseball Championship will have Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador and Guatemala, along with host nation Nicaragua, playing for the right to go to the Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador.

Sandor Guido was the manager for Nicaragua in the World Baseball Classic Qualifiers last October after replacing Marvin Benard.

The potential roster for the Central American Baseball Championship tournament will feature prospects for the Nicaraguan World Baseball Classic squad. Center fielder Isaac Bernard, first basemen Cheslor Cuthbert, and starting pitcher Osman Gutierrez, who helped Nicaragua during the 2023 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers in Panama City, Panama a few months ago, are expected to help carry the ball club during the World Baseball Classic for Guido.
