National champion Oklahoma Sooners headline the Frisco field
The Oklahoma Sooners will play in the 2027 Frisco College Baseball Classic after winning the national championship in 2026. The Sooners are also playing in Arlington at the beginning of the season for the 2027 Shriners Children’s College Showdown.
By winning the national championship and playing in the College World Series, the Sooners had lots of success and lots of games on neutral sites in 2026. They had a 13-3 record in neutral-site games and a 43-23 record overall.
Big 12 champion Kansas Jayhawks in the field
The Kansas Jayhawks will also play in the 2027 Frisco College Baseball Classic after having their best season in program history. The Jayhawks finished with a 45-18 overall record and a 22-8 record in Big 12 play. Kansas brought home the Big 12 regular season and tournament titles as well. They were the number 15 national seed in the NCAA Tournament.
They collided with another 2027 Frisco College Baseball Classic participant, Oklahoma, in the Lawrence super regional that they hosted at Hoglund Ballpark.
Kansas and Oklahoma are set up for a super regional rematch at Riders Field next March.
Southern Miss and UC Irvine round out the field in Frisco
The final two teams in the 2027 Frisco College Baseball Classic are the Southern Miss Golden Eagles and the UC Irvine Anteaters.
In 2026, Southern Miss had a very good year. The Golden Eagles won the Sun Belt regular season and tournament titles while finishing with 44 overall wins and 22 conference wins. They made the NCAA Tournament for the 10th-straight season and hosted a regional as the number nine national seed.
UC Irvine is looking for a bounce-back season in 2027 after finishing 25-27 overall in 2026. In 2025, the Anteaters had a 43-17 overall record and a 24-6 record in Big West Conference play.
