NCAA Division I Top 25 Rankings: Texas A&M The New No. 1

The Top 25 NCAA Division I rankings were released on April 15 from D1Baseball.com, with Texas A&M University getting the No.1 spot for the first time this season.   

Texas A&M (32-4) went 4-0 last week with wins over UTSA and a three-game sweep at last week’s No.6 Vanderbilt University (26-10) at home.   

The University of Arkansas fell one spot to No.2 after going 3-2 last week. They swept San Jose State University in a two-game series at home and lost two out of three on the road against last week’s No.25 Alabama.  

The University of Kentucky (30-5) went from No.8 to No.3 after losing to Samford in Birmingham, Alabama, but sweeping Auburn in a three-game series on the road.  

The four programs that dropped out of the Top 25 NCAA Division I rankings are UCF (21-12), previously ranked at No.17; Mississippi State University (22-14), previously ranked at No.22; Nebraska (23-10), previously ranked at No. 23; and Florida (18-17), previously ranked at No.24. 

After not being ranked last week, The University of South Carolina (25-11) is at No.20; Arizona (21-13) is at No. 21; West Virginia (22-13) is at No.22; and Georgia (27-9) is at No. 24.

Vanderbilt dropped out of the top 10 to No.13. Dallas Baptist (26-8) suffered the most significant drop, dropping from No.15 to No.25 after losing two out of three at Air Force.  

The University of Alabama (24-12) moved up seven spots from No.25 to No.18. Virginia Tech had the largest rise in the rankings (23-10), also moving from No.23 to No.16. Oklahoma State (25-11) moved up from No. 21 to No.15 

 Texas A&M will look to keep the top spot when they travel to Tuscaloosa to take on No.18 Alabama for a three-game series starting on April 18.  

Two of the top five teams will play in an SEC showdown when No. 4 Kentucky travels to No.3 Tennessee (26-6) starting this weekend, April 19, in Knoxville.
