Kansas Jayhawks Land JUCO Transfer Pitcher from France

Back in January, the Kansas Jayhawks landed a pitcher in the portal from Montpellier, France. Mathis Nayral will become the second French player to ever play at a power conference school. The first one is Mathis Meurant, who is currently playing for the Arizona Wildcats.

Nayral comes from the JUCO level as he is currently playing for Cochise College in Sierra Vista, Ariz.

In his freshman season for Cochise in 2024, he made eight starts and threw 36.1 innings. He struck out 32 batters and finished with a 7.93 strikeout per nine inning average.

The 2025 season for the Cochise Apaches has begun. Thus far, Nayral has made two starts and has pitched 13 innings. He has struck out 18 batters and is sitting with a 0.69 ERA. The French pitching prospect has also thrown a complete game this season.

It seems as if the Kansas commit is heading toward having a great 2025 season for the Apaches.

The French right-hander will make his way to Lawrence after this JUCO season to play for the Jayhawks. Once he does, it will be a monumental moment not just for Nayral and his career, but also for the French as they begin to infuse into the college baseball landscape.
