The 2026-27 LVBP season in Venezuela began on Monday.

All eight clubs have played at least one game, with the Bravos de Margarita and the Cardenales de Lara the only teams yet to play a second.

While only a few games into the season, it's too early to tell who the pretenders and contenders are. Still, some clubs have had a better start out of the gate than others.

Who's Hot- The Tiburones de La Guaira have opened the season with two identical 10-6 victories against the defending champion Navegantes del Magallanes. Third baseman Yangervis Solarte is batting .375 with five RBIs in eight at-bats. Their pitching staff hasn't made a strong first impression, but they've done just enough to get the job done. Starting Thursday night, the Tiburones turn their attention to a two-game set with the Caribes de Anzoátegui.

Who's Not- As mentioned, the Navegantes have dropped their first two games to the Tiburones. They were outscored 20-12. The pitching staff didn't give the offense much of a chance on Tuesday, allowing eight runs through the first three innings. Starter Victor Vargas allowed four runs and couldn't record an out before being pulled from the game by manager Yadier Molina.

Who's Hot- Leones second baseman Lenyn Sosa drew three walks on Tuesday and followed it up with two more on Wednesday against the Aguilas del Zulia. The former Chicago White Sox and Toronto Blue Jays utility infielder has a 1.083 OPS through two games. Yesterday, Caracas defeated Zulia 9-4 to pick up their first win of the season. Third baseman Leandro Cedeno went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer.

Who's Not- The Tigres de Aragua managed just four hits in Wednesday's 9-0 loss against the Caribes. Their offense struck out eight times compared to just two walks against six of Anzoátegui's pitchers. They hope to put that ugly performance behind them on Thursday night against the Navegantes and left-hander Drew Parrish.
