LVBP: Tigres Shut Out Tiburones 7-0

The hot bats of Tiburones were frozen Wednesday night round robin stage of the LVBP playoffs, with Tigres de Aragua shutting out Tiburones 7-0.

In the bottom of the first inning, Tigres struck first when Jose “Café” Martinez drove a single to center field, scoring Alex Amarista to make it 1-0. In the bottom of the fourth, Carlos Rivero drove in two more runs with a line-drive double to center field, scoring Henry Rodriguez and Yorman Rodriguez.

 Aragua piled on more runs in the bottom of the fifth, with a two run home run from Martinez to left field that brought in Alex Amarista, making it 6-0.  

Danry Vasquez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a single to right field, pushing his average at .600 since the start of the round robin. Vasquez batted .467 during his last 12 games of the regular season, driving in seven and knocking doubles to finish the year at a hot clip that has continued into the playoffs. 

Guillermo Mocoso went five innings for Aragua, allowing five hits, no walks and three strikeouts during his start, and the Tigres bullpen would combine to allowing just two hits allowed, one walk and three strikeouts. Aragua is 1-1 and will play Magallanes at home on Thursday at 6 p.m. EST. Tiburones, at 1-2m will play on Friday on the road against Magallenes at 6 p.m. EST.
