The Arkansas Razorbacks landed a commitment from an elite high school prospect. Madden Pike, the 56th-best player in the 2028 high school class, announced his commitment to Arkansas.
Pike announced the commitment on Instagram and gave the following statement:
"I’m excited to announce that I have committed to the University of Arkansas," Pike said. "I’m grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to see what this next chapter has in store. None of this would be possible without my family, friends, coaches, and everyone who has supported me along the way. Go hogs!"
Along with being a top 60 player nationally, Pike is also the best player from the state of Washington in the 2028 high school class. He plays for Puyallup High School.
A look at Pike as a player and his brother, who plays college baseball
Pike is a switch-hitter who can play pretty much every position on the baseball field. According to Perfect Game, Pike has "top end two-way ability and projects in multiple spots defensively."
His pitching numbers during his career at Puyallup have been sensational. According to Max Preps, Pike has a 2.08 ERA and 89 strikeouts in two high school seasons. He has pitched a total of 68 1/3 innings and has allowed a .185 opposing batting average.
Pike has an older brother, Mason Pike, who is currently playing college baseball. Mason is a two-way player for the Oregon State Beavers who is entering his sophomore season in 2027.
During his freshman year in 2026, Mason recorded two outs on the mound. One out he recorded came in a game against the Portland Pilots. The other out he recorded came in a game against the USC Trojans.
Before his freshman year started at Oregon State, Mason was also drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 19th round of the 2025 MLB Draft. He chose the college route instead.
A look at the future of Arkansas baseball recruiting
Pike is joining Arkansas' 2028 recruiting class that is ranked fifth overall in the 2028 recruiting cycle. He is one of two top 100 players in that class. The other top 100 player is Jaxxon Tweedt from Chico High School in California.
The West Coast pipeline seems to be a theme in the Razorbacks' 2028 class.
Arkansas' incoming freshmen from the 2026 recruiting cycle make up a class that ranked 10th in the country. That class contains four top 100 players. Those players are Jovorskie Lane Jr., Judah Ota, Brody Crane, and Spencer Browning.
These players enter the Arkansas baseball program after the Razorbacks had a program record of 12 players selected in the 2026 MLB Draft.
In the upcoming 2027 recruiting cycle, Arkansas has the fourth-best class in the country. That class contains 18 total prospects, and three of those prospects are top 100 players. Those three top 100 players are CJ Hall, Jake Ivey, and Conor Rae.
Per usual, head coach Dave Van Horn has led the charge in some elite recruiting for the Razorbacks.
