For transfer portal recruiting, the Florida State Seminoles are looking at Polk State College in Winter Haven.
Two players from Polk State can be highly impactful for the Seminoles in the future. This means that a huge pipeline from Winter Haven to Tallahassee could be forming.
A look at Marvin Montenegro and Bradyn Potter
Marvin Montenegro and Bradyn Potter began their college baseball careers at Polk State. The two players will be a part of Florida State baseball in the future.
Montenegro is with the Seminoles for his sophomore season in 2027. During his freshman year with Polk State, he finished with a .342 batting average, a .456 on-base percentage, 13 doubles, five home runs, and 45 RBIs.
He mostly played catcher for the Eagles, but also played a little bit of third base and was also in the outfield.
In 2027, Montenegro will be a candidate for Florida State’s starting catcher job. Hunter Carns transferred from Florida State to Georgia this offseason, which leaves an opening for the starting spot. The Seminoles also lost Nathan Cmeyla after his redshirt-senior season last year.
Montenegro has made his impact felt during Florida State’s intrasquad scrimmages. On Friday, October 2, he hit two home runs during scrimmages.
With power already being put on display and a place for him available as the Seminoles’ starting catcher, Montenegro can be a key player for Florida State this upcoming season.
Bradyn Potter committed to Florida State on Saturday, October 3, according to Noles 24/7 Staff Writer Brett Nevitt.
Much like Montenegro, Potter also played his sophomore season for the Polk State Eagles in 2026. In his freshman season, Potter had a .379 batting average, a .494 on-base percentage, 13 doubles, six home runs, and 37 RBIs. The JUCO outfielder also stole 20 bases.
Potter will join the Seminoles for the 2028 college baseball season.
A pipeline for great talent between Polk State and Florida State is clearly forming in transfer portal recruiting.
