Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (34-54) 2, Saraperos de Saltillo (37-51) 0 – Six pitchers combined to hold Saltillo to four hits and three walks as the Tecos shut out the Saraperos. Marcos Valenzuela drove in both runs for Dos Laredos with a sixth-inning single. With the loss, Saltillo is eliminated from playoff contention.

Guerreros de Oaxaca (46-41) at Diablos Rojos del Mexico (59-28) – This game was suspended after one inning of play with the Diablos leading 5-0. It will be completed Sunday as part of a doubleheader.

El Aguila de Veracruz (40-48) 3, Tigres de Quintana Roo (43-45) 1 – Veracruz handed the Tigres their seventh straight loss as a playoff berth slips through the Tigres’ paws in the final weeks of the season. Daniel Montano hit a two-run homer for Veracruz, which is nearly eliminated from playoff contention but can still spoil Quintana Roo’s season. The loss puts the Tigres 3 1/2 games behind Oaxaca, which holds the final berth, with five games to play.

Bravos de Leon (47-41) 4, Olmecas de Tabasco (51-36) 3 – Gabriel Cancel’s league-leading 29th homer of the season, a two-run homer in the top of the eighth, put the Bravos ahead for good as they took the series opener from Tabasco. Leon is now tied for fourth with Puebla, a game and half behind third-place Campeche. Tabasco is one win away from assuring themselves home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Lowlight Reel: Acereros de Monclova Give Up Rare Inside-the-Park Grand Slam

Leones de Yucatan (30-55) 4, Pericos de Puebla (46-40) 1 – The Leones picked up their 30th win of the year – and handed Puebla it’s 40th loss – behind a four-run third inning. Two runs came home on Wilfredo Tovar’s single, but he picked up no RBIs as Lorenzo Cedrola muffed the ball and was charged with an error. With the loss, Puebla can now finish no better than third. They’re currently in fourth place, 1 1/2 games behind Campeche, with five games to play.

Rieleros de Aguascalientes (40-44) 7, Algodoneros de Union Laguna (42-46) 5 – The Rieleros got an RBI single from Jomar Reyes in the fifth to score Matthew Batten with the go-ahead run, and then added insurance when Reyes clubbed a solo homer in the eighth to win the series opener in a three-game set that could very well determine the sixth and final playoff spot in the Zona Norte. Aguascalientes and Union Laguna are now tied for sixth, 16 games out of first, though the Algodoneros hold the tiebreaker by virtue of winning percentage – at 42-46, their .477 is better than the .476 the Rieleros have at 40-44.

Sultanes de Monterrey (45-43) 5, Dorados de Chihuahua (35-53) 1 – Socrates Brito drove in two runs, one with a single and another with a double, as the Sultanes moved into third place in the North, a game ahead of Monclova. Starter Manny Banuelos threw six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks, striking out four.

Caliente de Durango (50-37) 16, Charros de Jalisco (43-44) 12 – Jonathan Villar hit a grand slam in the second, and the Caliente hit four homers in a shootout with the Charros to open the series with a win. Villar went 1-for-5 but drove in seven runs in the game, getting a run home in the first with a sac bunt and getting runs home with ground outs in the seventh and eighth. Durango is locked into the No. 2 seed, while Jalisco fell into fifth place with the loss, a half-game behind Monclova and 1 1/2 games ahead of Aguascalientes and Union Laguna.

Piratas de Campeche (48-39) 5, Conspiradores de Queretaro (34-53) 4 (11 Innings) – Michael Baca drove home Roberto Urias in the bottom of the 11th to clinch a playoff spot, put Campeche closer to home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs, and hand the Conspiradores their seventh straight loss. Cal Mitchell and Abraham Almonte both homered for the Piratas, while Alen Hanson homered twice for Queretaro.

Toros de Tijuana (57-29) 9, Acereros de Monclova (44-44) 2 – Aderlin Rodriguez kicked off a six-run fourth for the Toros with a solo homer, and Jonathan Guzman and Franchy Cordero each hit two-run singles in the big inning for Tijuana. With the loss, the Acereros are a game behind third-place Monterrey and a half-game ahead of Jalisco.
