Puerto Rico’s Titanes de Florida Announce BCL Americas Roster

The Titanes de Florida, the champions of Puerto Rico’s Liga Superior Beisbol Doble-A, their summer league, will appear in the Baseball Champions League Americas this week in Mexico City.

The Titanes are sending a roster that is almost exclusively composed of players who have not played in the minors and been longtime performers in the island’s summer league.

On the mound, they’ll be led by Mad Salgado. Salgado, the ace for Dorado, has been added as a reinforcement for this team and should be the ace. He has posted a 0.56 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 32 1/3 innings in 2025.

Another arm to watch for the Titanes de Florida will be Joshua Santiago. He has a 1.04 ERA in 17 1/3 innings in 2025. These two will be the leaders of the staff and be relied upon if they are to pull off a couple of big upsets to make a run as the biggest underdogs in the tournament.

Offensively, one of the leaders will be Jay Feliciano. The former minor leaguer, who last played affiliated ball in 2018, will be one of the best hitters on this team. He plays for Hatillo and has an OPS of 1.114 with three homers and will be one of the main sources of power on this team. He will likely be this team’s starting first baseman or designated hitter.

Ian Laureano will likely be this team’s best all-around hitter,  and is off to a hot start in 2025 for the Titans. He is slashing .480/.618/.920 with two homers and just one strikeout through 34 plate appearances. If the Titanes are going to pull off an upset, he’s going to be leading the way offensively.

The Titanes de Florida will open up the tournament this Tuesday in Group A against the hosts, the Diablos Rojos del México, and finish up pool play against Nicaragua’s Tigres de Chinandega on Wednesday night. All six teams will advance past pool play, with the third place team playing the second place team from the opposite pool in the first set of playoff games, with the winner advancing to the semifinals. The two teams who top each group at the end of group play will automatically advance to the semifinals.
