Blake Grimmer is entering his senior season with the Tennessee Volunteers in 2027. The utility man will bring lots of experience to Tennessee’s lineup this upcoming season and will play a huge role in the team’s success.

He was a part of Tennessee’s 2024 national championship team as a freshman and knows what it will take to get the Volunteers back to the College World Series.

One aspect of Grimmer’s game that can become elite and reach new heights is his power hitting. That was something that stuck out about him during his junior season in 2026.

Grimmer and his power surge in 2026

During the 2025 season, Grimmer showed some promise in 44 at-bats where he had a .318 batting average with a .464 on-base percentage. He was also able to hit four home runs and had 15 RBIs that season.

In his junior year, Grimmer got more of a workload with 184 at-bats. He started in 48 games for Tennessee, which was a career high.

During those 184 at-bats, Grimmer still had a solid .284 batting average. He also had eight doubles and 36 RBIs. The utility man did reach double figures in home runs last season as he hit 13. Grimmer had two games with multiple home runs against Northern Kentucky on April 7 and Ole Miss on April 19.

He finished with the second-most home runs on the Volunteers behind only Henry Ford, who had 20. Blaine Brown and Levi Clark also had 13 home runs apiece.

Tennessee finished top ten in the country in home runs with 115 as a team in 2026. A large part of this was because of the power hitting Grimmer provided.

The senior from Spring Lake, Michigan will be the player Tennessee looks toward in order to keep their power-hitting reputation going. Ford is no longer with the Volunteers after he was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the sixth round of the 2026 MLB Draft.

Up next for Tennessee

The Tennessee Volunteers will begin the 2027 college baseball season with a weekend series against the Northern Illinois Huskies from February 19 to February 21. That series will be in Knoxville at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
